Kære Rune Christiansen,
Dette er et svar til dit debatindlæg i Radikal Dialog sidste onsdag.
Jeg har tidligere, i hvad der føles som en fjern fortid, i Radikal Dialog plæderet for præcis det skifte, vi nu ser i folketingsgruppens tilgang til udlændingepolitikken.
Et skifte, hvor vi begynder offentligt at anerkende noget af den virkelighed, de andre ser, og hvor vi konkret fortæller, hvad radikal udlændingepolitik er og ikke er.
Du efterspørger i Radikal Dialog sidste onsdag et svar, og herfra skal det lyde, at jeg selvsagt er overordentlig tilfreds og helt enig med gruppen. Så er det sagt, men så meget desto mere velkomment er dit indlæg, for jeg betragter faktisk det her som en væsentlig ændring, og sådan én påkalder sig i det mindste en debat. Alt andet havde været skuffende.

Og så kan jeg da kun glæde mig over, at vi alle får tryktestet vores holdninger, og der er du jo flink nok til ikke at putte med dine. Lad mig først dele din indignation, med min egen resignation, over de seneste udmeldinger fra Socialdemokraterne, Venstre og De Konservative om blandt andet statsborgerskab, men også det generelle behov for at vedligeholde undergangsfortællingen om den mellemøstlige indvandring.
Jeg havde virkelig håbet, det skulle blive anderledes med den nye regering. Det er det altså også i nogen grad. Tesfaye er ikke Støjberg. Men det kunne selvfølgelig være langt bedre. Det er for mig grundlæggende svært at forstå, hvorfor det er nødvendigt konstant at retfærdiggøre en politik, som har så bred en tilslutning, og man efterlades ikke med anden forklaring end, at det enten er et spørgsmål om strategi, eller ja, racisme.
Vi må forholde os realistisk til virkeligheden
Det er forkert og ærgerligt, og selvom jeg ikke mener, at tonen i debatten er det væsentligste at beskæftige sig med, så er det selvfølgelig heller ikke uden betydning.
Så ja, det efterlader ærlig talt den magiske midte noget sønderbombet. Men ved du hvad? Grunden til, at vi skal ændre vores udlændingepolitik, eller i det hele taget have én, er slet ikke at komme ind på midten.
Grunden er simpelthen at forholde os realistisk til virkeligheden og at kunne og turde tage ansvar – også for de svære beslutninger.
Så kan det godt være, at noget er enten-eller, og jeg er egentlig ikke meget uenig med dig i nogle af de ting, du tager fat på: Der er nogle grundlæggende problemstillinger omkring lige rettigheder for alle borgere i det her land, og det skal vi da ikke holde op med at italesætte.
Men du skylder også at erkende, at der er mange områder under den alt for brede betegnelse ”udlændingepolitik,” som har en hel del flere nuancer, og hvor de lette løsninger desværre ikke står i kø.
Det gælder for eksempel Europas håndtering af flygtninge, hjemsendelse af afviste asylansøgere, det legitime demokratiske krav om kontrol med indvandring, parallelsamfund og belastede boligområder, integrationsproblemer og den dybt uretfærdige sammenhæng, der er mellem etnisk baggrund og kriminalitet og beskæftigelse i Danmark.
Og endelig de værdimæssige sammenstød, der for eksempel kan udmønte sig i social kontrol.
Vi diskvalificerer os selv på den udlændingepolitiske måne
For mig er det netop her i synet på virkeligheden og i nuancerne, at det essentielle findes.
Hvis vi er på månen, og de andre står på jorden, så har vi simpelthen diskvalificeret os fra debatten, og da dette er et vigtigt politikområde, så betyder det, at vi bliver diskvalificeret helt generelt og for eksempel udelukket fra regeringsdeltagelse.
Og endnu vigtigere, så fritager det os fra at tage et ansvar på et vanskeligt politikområde. Et ansvar vi ellers bryster os af gerne at ville løfte andre steder. Derfor er det altså virkelighedsanalysen, der er grundforudsætningen her, dernæst kan vi så tale mål og midler.
Og selvfølgelig hverken kan eller skal vi være enige med alle om alt, men vi bør altså kunne befinde os på samme himmellegeme. Trods min resignation, så deler jeg ikke din opfattelse af, at det danske samfund er gennemsyret af et grundlæggende snævert syn på danskhed og en underliggende racisme eller skepsis overfor fremmede – selvom den selvfølgelig findes, – og at udlændingepolitikken således er bygget herpå.
Et af mine problemer med den fortælling er, at den karambolerer med virkeligheden, hvor hundredtusindvis af mennesker med minoritetsbaggrund jo faktisk trives og er fuldgyldige borgere i Danmark. Nogle er endda radikale eller – tro det eller ej – medlem af andre partier.
Jeg har også kolleger i forskellige farver, som er kommet hertil på grund af arbejde, nogle vælger endda at blive hængende og ender sågar med at blive danske statsborgere.
Kontrol med indvandring er et legitimt demokratisk krav
En ”stram”, eller ”fast og fair” politik kan lige såvel siges at bygge på den rationelle, om end kyniske, betragtning at social og kulturel baggrund kan gøre integrationen af nye borgere vanskelig og dermed dyr for samfundet, og det afstedkommer et demokratisk krav om kontrol med indvandring.
Allervigtigst er det, at du Rune, i mine øjne, mister pejlingen ved at insistere på at gøre udlændingepolitik til en debat om flæskesteg, i stedet for at diskutere det virkelige problem, som er, at der stadig er for mange børn med minoritetsbaggrund, der vokser op med dårligere muligheder end deres jævnaldrende med danske forældre.
Jeg kan muligvis kun lægge ringe vægt bag dét argument, men lyt for eksempel også til Geeti Amiri.
Derfor: Lad os fokusere vores kræfter på at få de sidste med, så vi udjævner sammenhængen mellem baggrund og sociale markører, og lad os åbent kunne diskutere både forventninger, krav og tillid.
Lad os kæmpe for alle menneskers ret til at vokse op i frihed og lighed, og lad os tro på evnen og lysten til at gribe egne muligheder, så vi hjælper alle, der kan og vil til at blive fuldgyldige borgere i det her samfund.
